Join Us!

On behalf of the Arkansas Tech Fraternity & Sorority community, welcome to TECH! We encourage you to take a look at all that our fraternities and sororities can offer you. Fraternities and sororities play an important role on campus as well as throughout the community. Leadership, scholarship, community service and brotherhood/sisterhood are the ideals that founded each of our organizations. By focusing on these four aspects, one can expect both a positive collegiate and fraternity or sorority experience. Being part of a fraternity or sorority will provide ample opportunities for you to participate in activities that will enhance your personal development, promote academics, and advance your leadership skills.

PANHELLENIC SORORITIES

Panhellenic sorority recruitment is a mutual selection process that is filled with activities designed to offer prospective members the chance to learn about the National Panhellenic sororities at Arkansas Tech University in a concentrated period of time. Formal recruitment allows sorority members to discuss the benefits of sorority affiliation and the requirements of membership. Whether or not you decide to join a Panhellenic sorority, formal recruitment is a great way to meet people and get acquainted with life at Arkansas Tech University.

The fall 2007 Panhellenic Formal Recruitment dates are Wednesday, August 22 through Saturday, August 25, 2007. The details about the specific events are below:

The Panhellenic Council will host an Ice Cream social on Wednesday, August 22, 2007 between 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm at the South Hall Panhellenic Housing Community for all ladies interested in joining a sorority at Arkansas Tech. This will be a drop in event and casual clothing should be worn.

Formal Recruitment officially kicks off on Thursday, August 23, 2007 at 5:00 pm with the Recruitment Orientation in Doc Bryan Lecture Hall. This is the first required formal recruitment event. Interested ladies will learn about the formal recruitment process and about the three chapters. Immediately following the orientation, ladies participating in recruitment will begin the First Round of Recruitment Events focusing on Academics and Leadership by rotating between the three chapters to help them better select the sorority they want to join. Casual clothing should be worn to the evening’s events.

On Friday, August 24, Formal Recruitment continues with the Second Round of Events focusing on Service and Sisterhood. Check in will begin at 5:30 pm in Doc Bryan. Much like in the first round, ladies will rotate between the remaining two chapters to help them better select the sorority they want to join. Casual clothing should be worn for this evening’s events.

The final round of events, known as Preference, will begin with check-in in Doc Bryan at 10:00 am on Saturday, August 25, 2007. Ladies participating in recruitment will be rotate between the final two chapters. Dresses in a color other than black should be worn for these events.

Ladies who participated in formal recruitment will receive their invitations to join, or bids, at 6:00 pm in the Doc Bryan Courtyard and will then join their new chapters for Bid Day activities. This marks the end of formal recruitment.

Specific requirements vary from organization to organization.
