| Order of Omega
Purpose
The purpose of The Order of Omega shall be threefold:
To recognize those students who have attained a high standard
of leadership in inter-Greek activities, to encourage them to
continue along this line, and to inspire others to strive for
similar conspicuous attainment.
To bring together the most representative fraternity and sorority
members, and to create an organization which will help mold the
sentiment of the institution on questions of local and intercollegiate
affairs.
To bring together members of the faculty, alumni, and student
members of the institution's fraternities and sororities on a
basis of mutual interest, understanding, and cooperation.

Programming
Fraternity & Sorority 101
In the fall of each academic year, Order of Omega hosts Fraternity
& Sorority 101, a program designed to introduce our newest
members of the fraternity and sorority community to what it means
to stand out and be greek. During this day long event, current
leaders from within the fraternity and sorority community as well
as Student Services staff members hold break-out sessions to not
only help those in attendance learn how to become leaders within
the community, but also to help the new members from the spring
and fall semesters learn about the Arkansas Tech fraternity and
sorority community. The date for Fraternity & Sorority 101
in 2007 is Saturday, October 6 and will be held in the Doc Bryan
Student Services Building.
Fraternity & Sorority Spotlight
Each month the Order of Omega collects information from the fraternities
and sororities on campus and compiles the list and includes this
in a monthly ad in the ArkaTech campus newspaper. To submit information
about your chapter, email Order of Omega President, Alicia Slott,
at aslott@atu.edu by the last
Thursday of each month.
Order of Omega
Roadshow
Each month the Order of Omega produces a Leadership Newsletter
entitled, roadshow, and distributes this to the members of the
fraternity and sorority community. Topics of the newsletter cover
tips about how to become better leaders, upcoming programs and
conferences, and other issues concerning leadership within the
fraternity and sorority community.
Additionally, members of the Order of Omega are available to conduct
roadshow presentations at chapter meetings per request. These
presentations are designed to be between 15-20 minutes so you
can easily work them into your regular chapter meetings. There
is a variety of topics and presentations on special topics can
be covered by request.
To find out more about the newsletter or available programs, contact
Order of Omega Vice President, Brittney Vanderpool at svanderpool@atu.edu.
New Member Council Emerging Leaders Program
In the fall of 2007, Order of Omega and the Office of Fraternity
& Sorority Life will be introducing the New Member Council
Emerging Leaders Program. NMC is designed to help train those
members of our fraternity and sorority community in their first
year of membership about how to become the next great leaders
of not only the fraternity and sorority community, but the Arkansas
tech community as well.
Set-up much like a leadership course, this program is an 8-week
series of meetings and group discussions designed to help develop
leadership skills and knowledge of organizational structure within
the participants. Participation is by nomination from the Executive
Board of each chapter and is limited to 20 participants per 8-week
session. There is one session held during the fall semester and
two sessions held during the spring semester. There will be a
$15 fee to participate that will cover the cost of materials for
the program.
To find out how you can participate, contact Coordinator of Greek
Life, Blake Bradley, at abradley@atu.edu.
Fraternity & Sorority Leadership Summit Retreat
Each January, the Order of Omega co-hosts the Leadership Summit
with the Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life. This workshop/retreat
is designed to help with chapter and council officer transition
by letting the newly elected officers of each chapter and council
come together to get to know each other as well as learn about
how to best serve their chapters/councils. For more information
about the Leadership Summit, contact Graduate Assistant for Greek
Life, Ellen Malito, at emalito@atu.edu.
